Remember: Ring of the Day

Baseball Dad Ring Story: Every inning mattered. ring mockup

Baseball Dad Ring Story: Every inning mattered.

My dad could turn a baseball field into a classroom without ever calling it one.

He carried late practices, dusty bleachers, and every long ride home after a hard game. Most people only saw the outside of it, but the people closest to him saw what it cost.

Then I asked, "What if I could keep the sound of his glove closing forever?"

That is when I realized the games were only part of what he was giving us. He was teaching patience, encouragement, and how to show up even when nobody kept score.

What we wanted to say was simple: thank you for making every inning feel like time together.

That is when the ring finally made sense. Not as jewelry first, but as a place to keep the story. The design uses a worn baseball glove, stitched ball, home plate, stadium lights, and a small father-son silhouette. The engraving carries the whole message: Every inning mattered.

He turned the ring over in his hand and went quiet. The people who show up again and again become part of how we remember love.

Symbols: a worn baseball glove, stitched ball, home plate, stadium lights, and a small father-son silhouette.

Engraving line: Every inning mattered.

Bible Study

Today: Proverbs 28, ESV

Proverbs 28 is sharp about leadership, money, law, confession, and justice. In modern language, it says the wicked may feel constantly exposed while the righteous can stand with courageous clarity. The chapter warns that ignoring God's instruction corrupts prayer, exploiting the poor is monstrous, and getting rich through injustice is not success. It also gives a path of mercy: the one who hides sin does not prosper, but the one who confesses and forsakes it finds mercy. Wisdom here is honest, just, and accountable.

Read the full chapter in the ESV translation, then use these questions for a short table or porch conversation.

Context for the book

Proverbs gathers wisdom instruction for people learning to fear the Lord in everyday life. It trains readers to recognize the difference between wisdom and folly in speech, discipline, money, work, family, friendship, and desire. Today's reading focuses on boldness through righteousness, justice for the poor, confession instead of concealment, integrity over wealth, and rejecting greed or partiality.

Context from the previous chapter

Proverbs 27 emphasized humility, faithful correction, friendship, and stewardship. Proverbs 28 presses accountability further, showing that communities and households suffer when people hide sin, reject instruction, exploit the poor, or use wealth as proof of righteousness.

1. What does it say?

  • The chapter says the wicked flee without pursuit, while the righteous are bold like a lion, and it ties justice to keeping God's law.
  • It warns against oppressing the poor, gaining wealth unjustly, showing partiality, hardening the heart, and trusting in one's own mind.
  • It teaches that concealing sin prevents prospering, while confessing and forsaking sin opens the way to mercy.

2. What does it mean?

  • Righteousness gives moral courage because the person walking in integrity does not need to keep managing hidden compromise.
  • God's wisdom cares deeply about the poor and vulnerable, so financial success gained through exploitation is spiritually corrupt.
  • Confession is not humiliation for its own sake; it is the honest doorway out of concealment and into mercy.

3. How does it apply to my life today?

  • If you feel anxious about being found out, ask whether the answer is more hiding or the courage to confess and repair.
  • Evaluate financial decisions by justice, not only profitability, especially where poorer people carry the cost of your advantage.
  • In leadership or parenting, refuse partiality that excuses the favored person while making the weaker person absorb the consequences.

4. What habit, thought, desire, or practice should change?

  • Confess and forsake one hidden sin or dishonest pattern today, beginning with God and moving toward appropriate human accountability.
  • Make one justice-centered money choice: pay fairly, avoid exploitation, correct an unfair term, or give without controlling the recipient.
  • Choose humble counsel over trusting only your own mind in a decision where pride has been wearing the costume of confidence.
