8 Best Survival Foods

We know you don’t wanna go hungry when SHTF!

This is one of the most important things that you need to carefully plan when you start prepping. Hello?? What good are your gears and first aid kits when you don’t have food to eat, right? You might think it’s easy. You will just go to the grocery store and buy any food that you see like your favorite chips,your favorite juices, and God knows what else you would want to put in that food basket. Hey, stop. This is big. We’re talking about disaster. Hurricane. Earthquake. Plague. End of Days. Apocalypse. You have to be REALLY PREPARED. This is not to scare you or anything as I’m sure you’ve watched enough disaster or apocalyptic films to know how scary this may be when it happens. Anyway, to give you an idea on what to prepare, here are some of the best survival foods you should have when SHTF. This is not everything that you’d need, but if you have these, you would definitely go a long way.

 

CANNED FOOD

Chicken, ham, salmon, tuna are great choices. These are a good source of protein. Not to mention they have a long shelf life. You better stop thinking about your low calorie diet until everything goes back to normal because you would need as much energy as you can have.

RICE

This is a good source of carbohydrates which you would need a lot of for energy. This is a non perishable food so it’s perfect in case the situation drags on for a couple of months.

 

BEANS

It doesn’t matter whether it’s canned or dried. This will probably be your best source of calcium and iron. Dried ones have a long shelf life.

 

PROTEIN/ENERGY BARS

This will give you a quick boost of energy and good thing about this is they can be eaten on the go. Fine, you may hoard a few chocolate bars too if you want. 😊

DRIED MEAT

I think don’t have to mention that this is a good source of protein because you already know that, right? This is well established and one of the best survival foods you should have especially if you are afraid to go hungry.

 

PEANUT BUTTER


You didn’t forget this, didn’t you? Shame on you if you did. Lol, just kidding. This is a great source of fat, protein, calories and will give you energy.

 

NUTS/TRAIL MIX

Jut like protein bars, these are a great source of energy. Almonds, cashews, and pistachios are excellent choices. Just a tip, look for unsalted ones. Too much sodium in your body may cause dehydration, w/c I’m sure you’d like to avoid.

WATER


You know water should be number 1 on your list. You can’t live without it. Remember, you can only live 3 days without water.
