  1. R says:

    OBJECTION!

  2. Crystal Kyuuketsuki says:

    Purely epic.

  3. Gazutd says:

I’ll start the inevitable PC v Mac fight…. The magazine should say “Want a piece of sh!t computer that only morons think is better then look this way”

    • andy says:

      whats with the mac hate?

      • Zira says:

’cause Macs are for hipsters and noobs.

        • TheVeryBestOf says:

just because some pretentious twats use macs doesn’t mean that macs aren’t alot better in some respects. what i find stupid is that PC users don’t even give macs a try simply because of the stereotypes mac users have gained for themselves.

          • jklinders says:

Macs are brilliant for specific purposes like sound engineering and graphics design. Macs are also great for the the fact they are frequently made from the very best tech available at the time they were released. However PC’s are modular and can be upgraded as tech changes.

Between the extra cost upfront and an inability to upgrade any component on the machine without ripping the whole thing apart I’ll stick with my PC. I don’t mind tinkering a bit, and even Vista works just fine for me. The myth of the unstable train wreck Windows operating system died before I even got my first computer.
Having said that I have no problem with apple. If I could afford a new computer for gaming every 2 years sure. But I would rather upgrade a video card and add RAM than replace the whole thing as an upgrade anytime.

          • pedro says:

What I find stupid is Mac users who can’t even understand that “a lot” is two separate words

          • it says:

Ideally, I’d be a mac user, but there is simply so much more software available for PC, including pc games. It’s a shame, really.

            • David says:

Actually… that argument is moot as well… macs can run anything PC’s can (either through virtualization or dual-booting) and quite honestly, after using a mac for a while, i’ve found that there’s really no PC programs that I feel the need to use…

besides, i find console gaming more fun than PC gaming… you sacrifice graphics… but at least you don’t have to stick thousands into your machine just to be able to play the next über intensive game… games should be built to suit the machine, not the other way around…

              • Kojiro says:

Actually…. if you include the thousands of applications available for the BSD based OSs which runs natively on Mac OS X… then yea that claim has no basis. Know what you’re talking about before you spew nonsense.

            • Spock says:

There’s a program called WINE that converts Windows software to Mac and Linux. Try it.

Or you could run Windows on the Mac using BootCamp.

        • Hookoa says:

          How would YOU know?

        • Darth Nan says:

Hahaha, you clueless computer racist – you make me giggle!

    • MLD says:

Macs are hardly pieces of shit. Mine’s lasted me longer than any PC I’ve owned. In addition, tech support is better/easier, because you only have to deal with ONE entity. Are they perfect? No. But POS is hardly an accurate word for them

  4. Stanley says:

    Should’ve switched the magazines.

  5. jron says:

    indeed.

  6. Gryphon says:

    Pwn and win!

  7. Petruza says:

Lol, the best upgrade is to install MacOS on a PC.

  8. humor me says:

Oh geez. If I show this to my son he’ll be spouting Linux all night *rolls eyes*.

    • ish says:

      bwahahaha

i feel better about myself for thinking linux too :)

    • David says:

Linux is fun, but you have to MAKE it do what you want… Mac OS does what you want right out of the box… no drivers to install (or make…)…

But if you’re willing to spend the time, linux CAN be great.

  9. Spork says:

And that is exactly why Apple pwns all of you!

  10. AllYourFailAreBelongToUs says:

Everyday more and more users are switching to Mac!

    • TheOtherSide says:

And everyday there’s more and more gay people, coincidence? I think not!

    • mike says:

Well, I don’t blame them. PCs are quite hard to use for an average person, so seeing as macs are “simpler” in a way and the average intelligence is lowering everyday, it’s only common sense for this to happen.

      • jgt2598 says:

CORRECT! And just look, when microsoft tries to make an operating system for less advanced computer users (vista) they get bashed for it! Double Standard.

        • MooseStuff says:

Bull windows is almost the exact same from 95.

        • Chunkboi says:

Microsoft made Vista, and yes, they succeeded in making an operating system for less advanced computer users…because Vista is so failure-prone and resource hungry (you need a gaming-grade video card for the default settings of the OS, for crying out loud…), that a less advanced user buys it…then pays MS again for tech support in getting it running…pays hardware manufacturers for the additional RAM, hard drives, and graphics cards that Vista invariably needs (who in turn are kicking money back to MS to pay for dev licences, dev kits, and technical information to make their products more “vista friendly”), pays software companies to get more “vista capable” versions of programs they can’t get running (who are kicking more money back to MS for the same things the hardware manufacturers are)…

A more advanced computer user would stick with something that he hacked to make work, use Linux, or buy a Mac, because then they would know exactly what they are investing in and know how to use it. For a Mac, you pay through the nose, but you get more marginal utility per dollar spent…the product lasts longer, exceeds tech standards for years longer than a PC (even with upgrading, you get to a point where parts lose compatibility, generate more quirks, and eventually you have to junk the whole thing and start over), meets tech standards for years after that, has fewer crashes, AND has hardware capable of running dual-platform (There are plenty of PC emulators for mac…I have yet to see the reverse).

Why can I run Windows 7 with such satisfactory results? I went quad-core.

      • Henrique says:

PCs aren’t hard, people are just dumb

  11. nubcake says:

    All troll/fanboy commenters = fags.
Just so set the scene, y’know. ^^

  12. Kevin says:

Aside from the obvious that a mac person staged the mags for the photo, lets face it, Bill gates is one of the major share holders in Apple Computers (to help save them from bankruptcy) and the macs continue to be little more then a status symbol for those who dont know any better, there dominating reasons for being better are no longer areas they dominate in. As for impervious to viruses, they lost that battle back in 2006. Proof that they were never impervious, just not mainstream enough for hackers to worry with until now.

    • MLD says:

Bill Gates is not a “major” shareholder in Apple (if one at all). http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=AAPL list of major shareholders.

After a brief search, it seems that Microsoft used to have some non-voting shares in Apple, but they sold those a few years ago.

    • Chris says:

@Kevin: False. Microsoft converted their non-voting shares of Apple stock to regular stock then sold it three years later. Get a clue and maybe try using Google man.

    • Scott says:

Mac’s have viruses? You better check the score again Kevin.

    • Jeremy says:

Except for the fact that Microsoft sold ALL their shares in Apple in 2000, the fact that Avid fell long ago to Final Cut in Hollywood, and the fact that you have to accept files from untrusted sources and punch in your password to give them admin access for that so-called “virus,” you have your facts correct.

Oh yes, and the “Hack a Mac” challenge which went unsolved until the organizers agreed to simulate “stupid user behavior” by clicking on links that the would-be crackers sent them, since they couldn’t actually break in without that.

      • Jake says:

actually, that is a general misconception. i work in hollywood and even though many companies opt for final cut over avid, to this day numerous companies still choose not too make the switch… even though, in my opinion, they should.

    • fangrrl says:

See, Mac fans love this stuff, the ranting of PCers. The pro-Mac lol: amusing, startling, meets its objective in one pass. Pro PC/anti-Mac commentary: unattractive sputtering with multiple ill-defined objectives that never reaches a destination. Our preferred machines each suit us.

      • mike says:

So let me get this straight:
PCs: Customizable, can adapt to more technology, can use most with decent proficiency, programs, ages out slower
Macs: Not as customizable, uses only a certain group of programs, ages out faster due to lack of feature called upgradeable, good for what it’s made for.
Our preferred machines do suit us, with macs being like hippies, and the regular person being a PC.

        • MooseStuff says:

Well if we are talking about the most macs sold are macbooks and what laptops are upgradeable past ram and such?

        • David says:

what moosestuff said, and i’d like you to meet my powermac… i can just pull a handle and it opens up, revealing the inside… where I can UPGRADE stuff… dur…

Sure, in terms of imacs, mac minis, and laptops, no shit you can’t upgrade them… but since when does the average upgrade enthusiast spend so little on a computer? as long as they’re gonna upgrade to stay ahead of the curve, they get a computer that’s already über expensive to begin with…

And no, hippies don’t typically like to spend lots of money on computer hardware, they’re not capitalists… I’m not a hippie, i’m a conservative/libertarian pro-capitalist…. well… you get the idea.

      • jgt2598 says:

What? Are you blind, illiterate, or just EXTREMELY prejudiced. Are you seriously so devoted to ONE corporation/brand that you can’t even see the argument of the other side? Really?

    • TheVeryBestOf says:

stupid much? in 2006 we got about as many virus’ as you have IQ (not many) and macs aren’t a status symbol, mainly because most people are like you and simply hate macs for no reason other than their own inadequacy, but also because macs are alot better for people like me who are interested in music production and use logic, one of the most versatile and useful DAW’s available, try putting that on a PC. and music production is only the tip of the iceberg, the only things that PC’s have better than macs is gaming, and while i enjoy the odd bit of PC gaming there’s nothing a PC can do that an xbox / PS3 can’t.

      • mike says:

MMORPGs, have fun with that on a PS3/ RRODbox

      • jgt2598 says:

Have you ever heard of microsoft office? MICROSOFT office? Allow me to give you a hint it runs perfectly on MICROSOFT Windows. As for “hate macs for no reason”, I suppose you don’t consider severe lack of upgradeability a good reason to dislike something that will be obsolete in several years if not less.

        • Lachy14 says:

again, i will have to repeat myself, you can upgrade macs with more ram video card memory etc. I have done and will continue to.

        • shadowGT04 says:

WOW, are you really that stupid? Office is for Mac OSX as well. If you don’t believe l2google and you will see that your THAT retarded and need to never reproduce to help with the uprising on idiots in the world

  13. jim says:

But… macs are pcs for god’s sake, pc = personal computer. a mac is a computer designed for personal use!

    • JerryAnderium says:

you can use it for personal use, but they’re not designed for that
only retarded people with money buy macs for personal use
Macs are made for professional graphic/music design, scientific investigation, etc…

      • Melody says:

Jerry, what is retarded about buying a computer that just works out of the box?
I used PCs for years, but in order to do so I had to learn a lot of troubleshooting for Windows errors and do regular maintenance. My mac is worth every penny because it just works.

I’ll be honest and admit that macs aren’t perfect. Programs do occasionally freeze, but the OS is designed so that you can force restart them without having to restart the whole computer. And don’t bring up task manager, this works on the same concept but is built into every program menu. The Mac also does its own defragmentation at startup. There is one flash-based virus that has been discovered for mac, but Apple sent out an update so it is no longer a threat.

If you ask me, there’s questionable intelligence in buying a computer that you know will freeze up and break down every month or two.

        • JerryAnderium says:

sorry buddy, there was a misunderstanding, i’m a hardcore Mac user, i also think that PCs with windows are terrible
But why do i own a Mac? because i needed it for work, and now that i own a Mac i use it for work and personal use.
What i mean is that if you’re a person that only uses computers for personal use install Linux on it and it will work like a Mac
Windows is the worst OS out there.
It only works for Games and catching viruses.
          Only fanboys deny that.

          • Melody says:

Ah, I know next to nothing about Linux but I would like to learn.

          • mike says:

            Mmmm… Games.
Can’t deny the fact I like games, they’re fun.

          • jgt2598 says:

For any idiot who says PCs are only good for gaming you obviously never used a PC, and for any idiot who says macs downright suck you’ve never used a Mac. PC’s and Macs run on the same basic hardware and can do basically the same things, the big difference is that PCs can be upgraded and customized more easily (leading to greater instability, crashing, viruses, etc… and requiring the user to be more computer-savvy) while Macs are easier to use and less finicky at the cost of upgradeability. Personally, I’m a PC fan, and if you can get around the hitches of a PC, it’ll work better then any Mac on the market; if hitches are to troublesome and upgrading not you’re thing the Mac is great for you.

  14. jklinders says:

Given apple’s major objection to any modifications of their tech, I would think the best place for the mac magazine would be on a movie rental rack. you don’t so much buy apple tech as rent it.

  15. Melody says:

I’ve heard it said that Vista is the best advertisement Apple Computers ever had.

  16. The One Guy says:

For all the mac/PC arguers out there, realize that it depends on what you want in a computer:
    Macs:
Pros: Easy to use, Few viruses and errors, Good for media editing.
Cons: Hard to modify hardware, doesn’t work well with non-Apple products, Slightly more expensive.
    PC:
Pros: Reasonably easy to use, Reasonably easy to modify hardware, compatable with a wide variety of products, most programs are made for PCs.
Cons: Significant risk of vruses and errors.

  17. Shampoo says:

You guys are all giving money to big corporations!
    And you’re fighting for them!
    Let them fight!
The outcome will be a better computer!
    Simple as that!

Ever tried runnig a Pc with Mac OsX!
Weird! my Pc laptop is sundenly stable for recording multitrack!

Use whats the best for you!

    Think about yourself!

  18. SporkUserAndProudOfIt says:

It’s good humor. Made me giggle.

and going on with the mac vs. pc thing…
thanks to a few also-mac-using idiots in my class, the windows/pc users classify me as one of them because there’s a little apple glowing on the back of my laptop. :| annoying as hell. I constantly have to repeat that i don’t hate pc’s at all, or think that they suck. But because i do a lot of graphic design as a side-job, i use a mac.
and i agree with Shampoo – use what’s the best for you, choose what you like and what works for you :)

  19. murmur says:

had a mac laptop lasted *seven* years. Dare I say “unheard of” in the pc world?

To all those who say that macs aren’t adaptable, they’ve never opened up a desktop box. I’m not talking imac. Go ahead, open up a tower & see just how adaptable it is.

Worked with hard-core pc box users (mostly on linux except the customer service folx) a while back. they’d all come over and ooh and aaah in envy when I opened up my mac to install a harddrive or some ram.

    • jgt2598 says:

My PC lasted 13 and no one said Macs were totally unupgradeable, but they are MUCH more difficult to update then PCs (that’s the cost of functionality out of the box, while as the cost of customizability is viruses, crashes, etc… take your pick, either way you’re gonna have problems)

      • David says:

Much more difficult? what? says who? the all-in-one computers are, but there are all-in-one windows pc’s too… it’s actually much easier/faster to upgrade the mac pro or a powermac than it is to upgrade a PC. just pull the lever, and it’s open. nothing to unscrew…

  20. Hookoa says:

To all the PC FAN Bois out there who have never actually used a Macintosh: Bashing away at something you know nothing about leaves your opinion with a ZERO value.

    • Breuger says:

@murmur, i’ve been using my toshiba windows laptop for 8 years now, and my crappy e-machine desktop for 7. beyond that, 7 years for -any- laptop is pretty unusual.

@hookoa, so we should then disregard your opinion, right?

  21. arieas says:

I see the KitKat logo is different to the UK style, looks nicer in some ways.

  22. Gtherocker says:

The only downside to macs are that there are not many games for it, but hey, at least it can run TS3.

  23. brian says:

id rather build my own computers, pay what i want, and install what I want on them, rather than someone at a factory do it.. whether it be HP or Apple. :)

  24. D says:

Over 7 years running on an i-mac. Can’t complain.
How many crashes, virus headaches, etc, had I bought a windows machine… I’m sure way too many.
Windows can update to Beyonce and be better off.

  25. jgt2598 says:

You know what’s funny, Mac bashes windows for the release of crappy Vista but most of the basics of Vista were copied from the latest Mac operating system. Basically
    Apple: “that program sucks!”
Microsoft: “really, ’cause I stole it from you!”
    Apple: “…”

    • Lachy14 says:

there is a pecking order here.

LinuxProgramers: Create something new on their os

Apple Programers: steals linux’s idea’s and incorporates it into the next release.

Windows programmers: Realises that they are now behind in regards to features hastily adds in some of the Mac’s ideas.

This was the case of vista but windows 7 i have to admit is a very good change.

What windows people gotta realise is that macs are running a Linux shell, thus its stability, as most techies agree that linux is far more secure than anything windows have released.

and btw i use windows for gaming XD

      • David says:

Mac os is UNIX based, and is very similar to linux… and apple HAS taken some ideas from linux (perhaps the most notable being spaces) but the thing that makes mac os better is that you don’t have to make it do what it does… it comes with everything out of the box… most people don’t want to have to waste time making linux work with everything they want to use…

  26. Sampson says:

i have owned pcs all my life… the shortest lived one was 5 years… longest 13… yes macs are great for out of the box… but so are frozen tv dinners… they work rite out of the box .. but i would rather take my time and make something that will stick around for awhile.. and as far as viruses go.. i have had 2 in my 18 years of owning computers… and they were both easily destroyed in minutes… learn how to use your equipment and you wont have to worry about crap .. but i guess yuppies can stick to there safe macs and minivans… ill be rocking PC and sports cars for all my life…

    • David says:

LOL. if that isn’t a bullshit argument, i don’t know what is… are you suggesting that macs DON’T “stick around for awhile”?

I’d also suggest that you learn to use the right words… “yuppies can stick to THEIR safe macs…”

And I think it’s also funny that you equate mac users to minivan drivers… we’re not soccer moms you retard…

  27. peoplearefuckingannoying says:

    hey everyone! guess what…

no one fucking cares what you have to say about either. this isnt a goddamn debate, its a fucking joke picture.

    fuck you all.

  28. Bakedpotatoes says:

    I’m not sure when a Mac stopped being a personal computer. . . .

  29. David says:

To all those who think that if you moved the PC magazine one space right it’d be pointing at beyoncé… take a closer look… it’d be pointing right at the all-caps word FERGIE highlighted in yellow…

  30. phillip says:

nobody has ever explained to me what technical limitations that PC has that makes the mac so much better for graphics/audio engineering or whatever. it seams like its more in the software but why do the software makers choose to make thier software for one OS or the other?

  31. Chris says:

You know what makes this whole wank-fest of Mac vs. Windows hilarious? Intel Macs and the Hackintosh plugin board. Same hardware, folks!

  32. Mark says:

If you’re here debating about pc vs mac, GET A LIFE!!!

  33. RJ says:

I’m sorry but I wish I had a Mac….. my PC crashed twice and it took 5 whole months for them to send it back to me both times…. and they said it would be taken care of within one month. :| The first time, though, they sent it right back and they hadn’t done ANYTHING to it. XC

  34. JimmyMac says:

The big difference is that Apple makes both hardware and software for their machines, and that’s why Macs work so much better. Want to run Windows – go for it. Newer Macs run Windows just fine.
Want to be virus-free and not have to search for drivers? Mac all the way.
I have never found anything I can’t do on a Mac, and the Mac version works better in most cases. Photoshop, Firefox, Finale – all better on the Mac.
You want something cheap that you want to fiddle with – go PC.
You just want to get some work done without hassles – go Mac.
As for longevity – I have a 1986 Mac that still works just fine, and the case has never been opened. Cupertino forever!
